WIN
Our superstar also sits in the student section. Seems to be a much less big of a deal this time around...
(William Gholston)
Not to mention the future
(Lawrence Thomas)
(thank you Kevin W. Fowler for the Lansing State Journal for the pics)
More to come later. Like tomorrow night after work later.
I got to see some of the game so I'll have some comments as well but the fact that you needed to qualify who they are shows wxeactly why they are not superstars and Denard is.
all I am saying is that ESPN also stated who it was when we played in Ann Arbor. so your argument on this blog is null. You UM people are such sore losers.
Big boy on the background had more rebounds than your entire team. THE ENTIRE TEAM.
Caught my first home game of the year, so how about some in person reporting, err blogging from the comments?
Not much energy for MSU tonight especially at the start. The "Trap Game" is kind of a cliche but it is probably a cliche for a reason. This game was ugly early. Penn State couldn't make a shot and we weren't much better. Settled in a little bit and once again dominated on the glass. This is actually much more impressive than it sounds. PSU stinks but was actually leading the conference in offensive rebounding going into tonight. We ended up completely crushing them on the glass. They averaged 13.5 offensive boards per game, we held them to 5. Overall we won the battle of the boards 41-22.
Still, this was a lackluster performance, especially the stretch in the second half that saw a 20+ point lead dwindle to 5. Draymond stepped up and got some buckets in the post and got fouled to stretch the lead back out. Day Day finished with 23 points 12 boards 5 assists. Um yea he's good.
Appling is still struggling with his shot, but I actually thought he played pretty well. 10 points 7 assists and only 1 turnover, and pretty good defense on Tim Frazier, who is pretty good. The rest of his team is not, though they have some guys that can knock down shots if you don't guard them as we found out in the second half.
Other thing that struck me is Dawson. He REALLY stands out in person. He's listed at 6'6", but he looks taller than Green to me, and is built for a freshman. He's also got very quick hands on defense. He had 3 steals tonight to go with his 12 points and 7 boards. His continued improvement could be the thing that pushes a pretty good MSU team up another notch.
Nix and Payne both had off nights. Gonna need them to play better against the Buckeyes on Saturday night with First place on the line.
OSu looked vulnerable yesterday against Purdue but winning in Columbus is obviously a monumental task. Will need to play a lot better than they did tonight. That is for sure.

ReplyDeletei didnt know who denard was when they showed him on TV.
ReplyDeletealso, everytime they showed denard on tv the espn announcers said hey look it's denard, which also shows exactly why he isnt a superstar.
ReplyDeleteSo just to clarify, you believe that William Gholston is on the same level as Denard Robinson when it comes to stardom?
