Tayhsaun + Fielder =

Over 200 million to play in the D.
Cabrera can't play third, can he?
Do Boesch, Cabrera, Fielder, Young comprise the most potent middle of a lineup in all of baseball?
Other than Austin Jackson and Brandon Inge, is there another Tiger who is above average defensively?
If Cabrera plays third and the Tigers disregard defense entirely, will they be the worst defensive team in baseball history?
You're still enjoying the Spin Doctors, aren't you?  ADMIT IT!

  1. that tay + fielder comment was funny.

that "Do Boesch, Cabrera, Fielder, Young comprise the most potent middle of a lineup in all of baseball?" question was idiotic. boesch and young aren't above-average. you and zach are both crazy.

delmon hit bombs in the division series but .280 with 20 home runs is the most we can reasonably hope for.

the rangers (kinsler, hamilton, beltre, young, cruz, moreland) lineup is nasty.

  2. So the answer to that question is no? Got ya. The Rangers do have a great lineup.

I'm worried about what this lineup is going to do to Detroit's pitchers as they are going to get no help defensively and who knows what's going to happen when VMart comes back in 2013 but Illitch's bank accounts aren't much of a concern to me so I'm pretty happy with Fielder on the Tigers.

  3. After some analysis, the word idiotic may have been a bit harsh.

Ian Kinsler, in 155 games hit 32 home runs batting .255 last year.

Brennan Boesch, in 115 games hit 16 HR batting .283.

Josh Hamilton, in 121 games hit 25 HR while batting .298.

Cabrera played in 161 games and hit 30 HR batting .344.

Adrian Beltre played in 124 games and hit 32 HR while batting .296.

Prince Fielder played in 162 games and hit 38 HR while batting .299.

Nelson Cruz played in 124 games and hit 29 HR while batting .263.

Delmon young played in 124 games and hit 12 HR while batting .268.

Mitch Moreland played in 134 games and hit 16 HR batting .259.

Jhonny Peralta played in 146 games and hit 21 HR while batting .299.

So these numbers don't encompass everything...but idiotic? 134 HR for the Rangers to 117 for the Tigers while the Tigers lineup hits for a MUCH better average. Every single member of the Tigers lineup hits better than his Rangers counterpart.

This analysis also doesn't factor in Avila who hit 19 HR with a .295 BA.

  4. This isn't worthy of a post but during Michigan's victory over Purdue last night Dan Dakich said that he's heard a fan yell at Robbie Hummel "Hummel, you played with the Big Dog!"
